3A State Girls Basketball at Hutchinson
ACCHS 31 - Beloit 27
It wasn't pretty, but behind tough defense and 15 of 20 free-throw accuracy, the #1 seed ACCHS girls held on for a 31-27 victory against Beloit to open the 3A State Tourney in Hutchinson. Both teams shot under 24 percent from the field and ACCHS made only 7 field goals in the game. Trailing early 9-3, the Lady Tigers roared back to take a 15-12 halftime lead and never trailed again. Beloit tied the game at 22 but despite a pair of missed 1-1 free throws, AC held on and the Tigers made thier final 6 charity tosses in the last :35. Megan Vanderweide (9 points) and Kelsi Sheeley ( 8 points) also combined to make 9 of 10 from the line for the game and push ACCHS into the state semifinals for just the second time in school history.
