The Holton girls had to overcome their largest defecit of the year Wednesday in the first round of the 4A State Tournament.  However, after trailing 5-0, the Lady Wildcats forced seven straight turnovers and scored 19 points in a row to take a commanding lead and never look back.  Holton, making their 6th straight State basketball appearanace and 4th in a row undefeated, outscored Chanute 26-6 in the second quarter to lead 45-13 and eventually won by 42.  The defending undefeated girls champions got 17 points from Jayna Smith, while Ryann Bowser added 11 and Kyrstie Miller chipped in 10 plus 9 rebounds.  The Wildcat defense held the Blue Comets to 7 of 49 (14.3%) shooting and Macy Wallisch had 15 blocked shots.  Holton, now winners of 50 consecutive games, also connected of 18 of 29 free throws to improve to 24-0.  They now get a rematch against Ottawa in the 6:30 PM semifinal Friday live from Salina on KNZA 103.9 FM and www.mscnews.net
