Brock Hanf - MH/MA and Creighton Brinter of NV
MH-MA 34 - ACCHS 29
It was a touch nite shooting for the #2 state ranked ACCHS boys who saw their undefeated season come to a screaching halt in a game the Tigers could never get on track and make a run. MH-MA played great defense and rebounded well and never gave up a lead after going ahead 9-7 in a low-scoring first half. The Ravens led by three at the break and end of three frames and stretched the margin to as many as 9. They overcame 16 turnovers and just 6 of 17 free throw shooting to improve to 16-5. Hanf hit a pair of 4th quarter treys to finish with 10 points as did Craig West. ACCHS was led by Jacob Hansen with 12 but the Tigers campaign and return trip to state was denied with a 21-1 record.
Nemaha Valley 41 - Sabetha 34
NV went ahead 12-7 after one quarter and never trailed leading by as many as 9 in the second half to win the rubber-match with their Big 7 League rivals. Creighton Brinker scored 10 of his 16 in the first half as NV improved to 20-2 also hitting 10 of 15 free throws in the final stanza. Sabetha was 0-2 from the line the whole second half and got 9 points from Troy Matson before he fouled out. The Bluejays season ends at 17-5.
