Sacred Heart Girls Begin State Tournament Play Thursday Night

The 6th ranked Falls City Sacred Heart Irish open play in the Class D2 Nebraska Girls State Tournament tonight at Lincoln Southwest High School against 3rd ranked Wynot.  The Irish are seeded third with a record of 19-5.  Wynot is the defending state champion with a record of 23-3 and are seeded 6th.
    All three of the losses for the Blue Devils are to teams in larger classes and a combined 65-8.
    Sacred Heart is led by 6-3 senior Sara Landis averaging 17 points per game.  Coach Luke Santo has been pleased with the added offense from his perimeter players late in the season.  ( play audio :26 seconds )

    The game is scheduled for an 8:45 p-m tip-time.  Our pre-game coverage will begin about 8:30 on SUNNY 101.3.
    An opening round win for the Irish will mean a semi-final matchup with either 2nd seed Elkhorn Valley or 7th seed Giltner at 8:45 p-m Friday night.
