Holton 67 - Sabetha 28
Holton scored 27 points in the second quarter and held Sabetha to only 5 to take a comanding 39-12 halftime lead. The Wildcats added to the margin with a 20-8 third quarter and surpass a 40-point margin. Holton forced 30 turnovers and had 4 players score double-digits led by Jayna Smith with 15. Kylie Miller had 12, Kyrstie Miller 11 and Ryann Bowser 10. The five starting seniors were named Players of the Game after securing their 46th straight win and wrapping up their 7th consecutive league title undefeated which is 98 wins in a row. Sabetha had a five game win streak snapped as fell to 16-4 heading into sub-state, while an 11-3 record was good for runner-up in the league.
BOYS
Holton 64 - Sabetha 46
Holton grabbed a 31-29 halftime lead then blasted into the third quarter by scoring the first 9 points to grab a double-digit lead they would never give up. Trent Tanking scored 21 including 5 treys and Tyler Burdiek added 16 while Cameron Karn chipped in 12. Holton won a share of their third straight Big 7 Title improving to 17-3 on the season. Sabetha, who has a 10-0 record in games decided by 8 points or less this year, dropped to 16-4 with their 8 game win-streak stopped heading into sub-state. Derrick Duncan led the Jays with 13 points while McKenzie McAfee added 10.
