Brown County To Bat Away Cancer
02/24/2012

Although winter remains, thoughts turn to summer, as the Brown County Relay for Life Committee sets it's sights on the annual summertime event, and getting teams formed to assist the fight against cancer.
Scheduled for June, preparations for the relay are in the works, and that includes the annual kick-off, set to happen, in Hiawatha, on March First.
Volunteer Laura Brobst is working to oversee team recruitment.
She says the Thursday event, in the parking lot of the Fisher Center, will allow those wanting to form a team to drive-through and gain the supplies needed to make that happen(Play Audio :23 seconds)
In case of cold, or inclement weather, committee members will have the supplies inside the Fisher Center.
The Relay for Life of Brown County is set for June 8th, and Brobst says between the time the kick-off ends and the event itself begins, a number of related fund-raising, and organizational efforts will be happening in the local area(Play Audio :17 seconds)
The June 8th Relay for Life of Brown County will run from 6 pm until 6 am June 9th at the Hiawatha High School Track(Play Audio :17 seconds)
The annual Relay for Life is a fun, overnight event that involves the community in celebrating cancer survivors while raising funds for a cure.
