Bridge construction will begin early next month in Holt County Missouri.  The Missouri Department of Transportation says it will begin its 2012 Safe and Sound Bridge construction program on Monday, March 5th.
The Cannon Creek Bridge, on Highway 111 a mile south of U.S. 159, will close to traffic for a bridge replacement project.  The bridge will remain closed to traffic for approximately six to eight weeks while it is replaced.  The Cannon Creek Bridge was originally built in 1956.  A detour will use Highway 159, Interstate 29, and Highway 59.
Two other bridges are to be closed this year in Holt County under the Safe and Sound project.  The Route C Bridge over the Mid-Branch of Squaw Creek is scheduled to close on March 19th.  The Missouri Route 111 Bridge over the big channel of the Big Tarkio River will be closed in April.
The closure dates are tentative, weather permitting.
A total of 190 bridges will be replaced in a 20 county area of northwest Missouri under the Safe and Sound program.  That’s more than in any other area of the state.  One hundred fifty-five of the 190 bridges have been completed, and the remaining 35 bridges are to be completed by the end of this year.
