The Falls City, City Council approved the One and Six Year Street Plan as proposed Monday night following a public hearing drawing no comment.
The four projects on the One-Year plan include seven blocks of street paving and several blocks of asphalt overlay and armor coating. The city share of these projects is estimated at $390,000.
One of the projects is building 33rd Street from Highway 73 west to Barada Street which would lead to the entrance to Community Medical Center.
Two milling and overlay projects are included in the one year plan, 18th Street from Harlan to Lane and 16th Street from Chase to Towle Street. About 60 blocks of asphalt overlay is also possible with the areas to be determined.
Projects included in the long-range plan are extending Abbott Street from 28th Street approximately 900 feet north to tie into the new 31st Street; 21st Street from Fair Avenue to the City limits, then north on 3301 Business Parkway North to the Airport; 17th Street from Fair Avenue east to Burton Drive being hard surfaced; and hard surfacing 14th Street from the existing pavement approximately 270 feet west to the City limits; Paving of Burton Drive from the end of the current paving to Highway 159 is included as well.
Justin Stark with Olsson Associates who presented the plan noted that just because a project is on the plan, does not mean it will be done.
In other business Monday night the Council approved the appointment of James Liming to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department and approved a number of request for renting Prichard Auditorium and allowing the sale of alcohol at the events. However, the Council took no action on three requests for the sale of alcohol at the Auditorium since they did not yet have paperwork for rentals.
