Those who picked up free radon test kits during a series of meetings in southeast Nebraska last month can get help understanding the test results during follow-up meetings planned for next week.
Meetings will be held at three locations on Monday, February 27th. The first will be in Pawnee City in the Courthouse basement from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.; the second meeting will be held at the 4-H Building in Auburn from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.; and the final meeting will be held in the basement of the First United Methodist Church in Falls City from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
You should bring your radon test results to the meeting.
Mark Versch, an Environmental Health Analyst with the Nebraska Radon Program, will lead the meetings. He’ll address what the test results mean, possible solutions to fixing high radon levels, and he will also be available to answer any questions you may have.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, gas that can seep into a home or business through cracks and crevices. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer, behind smoking.
Free radon test kits are still available at Extension Offices in Richardson, Pawnee, Nemaha, and Johnson Counties, on a first-come first-served basis.
