The fire alarm system at the Jackson County Courthouse will be upgraded.
On the recommendation of head courthouse custodian Teresa Scheidegger, the county commission this week accepted a bid from Simplex Grinnell of Topeka for a new control panel and monitoring system for $4,200.
The fee to monitor the system will be $350 annually.
In other business, the commission approved the purchase of a Caterpillar 950H loader from Foley Equipment of Topeka for the county road and bridge department in the amount of $155,000.
Funding will come from the department’s special machinery fund.
The county will keep the loader they currently have.
