Atchison County Commissioners will have more breathing room in monthly budgeting when addressing current cash flow issues within departments.
The City of Atchison presented Commissioners with a 203 thousand dollar check late last week, which is a six month advance of their 33 thousand 833 dollar monthly payment they give to Commissioners out of there fund 40 account.
Also during their regular meeting Monday commissioners continued their ongoing discussion of the role of Emergency Management, Noxious Weed and First responder Director soon to be vacated by Lori Chew.
Commissioners are looking into re-structuring the role of Noxious Weed to be under a Public Works umbrella that would include the Road and Bridge and Solid Waste Departments.
Chew told commissioners a majority of her job is on the emergency management side and Noxious Weed duties run from April through September.
Upon her leaving, the void will need to be filled as no one is currently certified to have the role.
Commissioners also heard from the Atchison County Rescue Service on the possibility of having a county-wide ambulance service and Commissioners also restored funding to the Adult Learning Center.
