The Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement Division is preparing meetings across the state for people who want to find out more about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Compliance Safety Accountability program.
The program has increased the monitoring of performance and imposed new penalties for unsafe driving.
During the town meetings information will be provided on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA 2010) program. Implemented in December, 2010, the program increases the monitoring of motor carrier on-the-road performance, and institutes new penalties for unsafe driving behaviors, including information on cellphone and texting bans as well as hours of service..
An update on Nebraska’s Truck Safety Regulations and changes in the Hazardous Materials Regulations will also be provided.
The meetings should be attended by anyone who drives buses, big trucks, farm trucks or pickups that haul big trailers and drivers of vehicles designed or used to transport 8 or more passengers, including the driver for compensation.
The schedule of NSP Carrier Enforcement Division town meetings includes: South Sioux City on February 21st from 7 – 10 p-m. at the Marina Inn; Alliance on February 22nd from 7 – 10 p-m Mountain time; February 23rd at McCook from 7 – 10 p-m at the Chief Restaurant; Grand Island on February 27th from 7 – 10 p-m at the Howard Johnson at the Riverside Inn; at Gretna on March 5th from 7 – 10 p-m at the American Legion Post; at Broken Bow on March 6th from 7 – 10 p-m at the City Auditorium; at North Platte on March 7th from 7 – 10 p-m at the Holiday Inn Express; at Norfolk on March 19th from 7 – 10 p-m at Northeast Community College;
