Nebraska Lottery Presents Check to Humboldt Business That Sold Million Dollar Ticket
(KLZA) Herbert Carlin of Humboldt was the big winner, but not the only winner in the Mega Millions drawing last Friday.
Carlin had a ticket worth a quarter of a million dollars that became a million dollar winner because he purchased the $1 Megaplier option. On Wednesday, Nebraska Lottery officials were in Humboldt to present a check for $10,000 to Steve Svoboda, owner of North Fork Farm Service, the business that sold Carlin the winning ticket.
The business that sells the ticket received one percent of the prize. Steve Svoboda told John Nixon that he was excited to learn that he had sold the lucky ticket. ( play audio 1:07 )
Normally stores get five percent of the amount of ticket sales. That means stores get a nickel for each one dollar ticket they sell.
