A former Netawaka couple convicted on child molestation charges have been handed life sentences.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller said 51-year-old Larry Norwood was sentenced today ( Friday ) in Jackson County District Court to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for 50 years on three counts of rape and four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Miller said District Court Judge Mike Ireland also sentenced 39-year-old Leeann Garcia to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years on one count of aiding and abetting aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The couple was convicted on the charges during separate jury trials in May related to their sexual abuse of two young girls, ages 11 and 13, who lived in their home between December 1st, 2008 and July 15th, 2009.
Miller said both defendants are expected to appeal.
