Doniphan County Electric Cooperative crews have restored power to 8 rural Wathena residences left in the dark late this morning. It happened shortly before 11:30 when a helicopter, flying southwest of Wathena, hit the power line. Arlen Mitchell, manager of Doniphan County Electric says the helicopter was conducting an inspection of the Keystone pipeline at the time of the accident(Play Audio) Mitchell says his crew worked in the rough terrain to restore power, with the outage keeping 6 customers in the dark for an hour and 10 minutes, while 2 others were without power for two hours and 55 minutes. No injuries were reported from the incident.
