Humboldt Council Clears Way for Bridge Project

(KLZA)-- The Humboldt City Council approved a floodplain permit for the Nebraska Department of Roads when they met this week.  Bridge work is planned by the Department or Roads on the Highway 105 Bridge over the Nemaha, on the south edge of Humboldt.

Council members also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Humboldt and Humboldt Housing Authority concerning an environmental review required for the Housing Authority. 

A contract between the City of Humboldt and Southeast Nebraska Development District on a Community Development Block Grant for housing rehabilitation was approved at a cost of $7,900.

Richardson County Sheriff Don Pounds presented a report on activity in Humboldt during the meeting.  Speeding on Long Branch Street was discussed.  The City is going to place speed signs on the street and Pedestrian Crossing signs along Long Branch Street in the area of Power Field.

Further review of the embankment behind the Humboldt Housing Authority property will take place in the spring after everything thaws out.  It is not believed to be a major issue at this time. 

A meeting with A Southeast Nebraska Development District representative and the Council concerning code enforcement in Humboldt was delayed until April
