(KTNC) - A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a house in Humboldt Monday night.
Fire chief Rex Kapel says Humboldt volunteer fire fighters were called to the fire, at 923 2nd Street, at seven o’clock Monday evening.
According to Kapel, the fire started in an unattached garage and spread to the attic of the house. The garage was destroyed, along with a car inside the garage and a pickup parked next to the structure.
Kapel says damage to the house was confined mainly to the attic. There was some smoke and water damage to the house, but fire fighters were able to save the structure.
No one was home when the fire broke out. Fire fighters remained on the scene for about five hours Monday night.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Kapel says the State Fire Marshal is investigating.
