Queen Crowned to Open Richardson County Fair
09/11/2014

(KTNC)--Overcast skies didn’t deter the crowds or dampen the enthusiasm as the 90th annual Richardson County Free Fair and Humboldt Fall Festival got underway Wednesday night, with the coronation program in the square park.
Casey McNealy, the daughter of David and Vicky McNealy of Humboldt, was crowned the Fair Queen. Whitney Ramsey was the first runner-up, Haley Workman the second runner-up, Nicole Fiegener the third runner-up, and Rebecca Blecha the fourth runner-up among the five finalists.
Falls City native and current host of “Lance’s Journal” on KOLN-TV in Lincoln, Lance Schwartz, crowned this year’s royalty.
Casey McNealy succeeds the 2013 Queen, Lindsay Harlow. Completing this year’s fair royalty is the 2014 King, John Cander of rural Humboldt.
Kay Leech was named the 2014 Woman of the Year.
The theme of this year’s fair is “There’s no Place Like Home.”
The Richardson County Fair runs through Saturday night in Humboldt, with activities around the Square and at the Fairgrounds.
Thursday is the first full day of activity. Exhibits can be entered at the Ag Building in the morning, with judging at 1:00 p.m. Goat and sheep judging is Thursday afternoon in the Livestock Center.
Parades are all three days of the fair at 11:00 a.m., and free musical acts will be on stage in the park at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. daily.
The Southeast Community Band performs at 6:30 Thursday evening, with the 100 Year Farm Family Awards presented at 7:30.
