She was born January 23, 1928, at Baileyville, Kansas, the daughter of Josephine (Fangman) and Frank Kohake.   She attended school at Axtell and Baileyville and graduated from Baileyville High School. She attended Mount Saint Scholastic and Emporia State Teacher’s College.
