Nancy Lowe

Nancy Ann Lowe, 83, of Effingham, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her home.

She was born on July 13, 1936 on the family farm Southwest of Effingham, Kansas, the daughter of Leslie and Beulah (Page) Delfelder. Nancy attended grade school for 8 years at the Pleasant Vale (formerly Holister) and graduated from ACCHS in Effingham, Kansas. After graduation she married Donald Edward Lowe at the Effingham Union Church.

Nancy worked for the Motor Vehicle Department in Topeka, Effingham Coop, Treasurer for the City of Effingham, bookkeeper for Effingham Diamond View Apartments, and later president of the Board of Diamond View Apartments, Dr. Francisco's Medical Clinic, Atchison County Conservation District and Calvin's C Store in Effingham. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Horton, where she was a past elder and Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Happy Hour Club, Bunco Club, Community Club and Effingham Library Board. Nancy enjoyed reading, making jewelry, embroidering, cross word puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Shirley (Jim) Eckert of Effingham, Kansas, Donald Rex (Patty) Lowe of Kirwin, Kansas, Dennis Lowe of Atchison, Kansas, Susan (Donnie) Bonjour of Centralia, Kansas, David Lowe of Effingham, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Kay (Lloyd) Reichart of Valley Falls, Kansas; brother, Johnny Delfelder of Oskaloosa, Kansas; sister-in-law, Ofelia Delfelder of Wichita, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, William, her husband and brother Larry Delfelder.

Friends may call on Thursday and Friday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. There will be a private graveside service and burial at the Claytonville Cemetery Northeast of Horton, Kansas on Saturday.
