Humboldt Council Acts to Clean Nuisance Properties
03/06/2014

(KTNC) --  Two properties in Humboldt that have been deemed nuisance properties will be cleaned up, following action by the Humboldt City Council Tuesday night.
The Council approved contracts with Jack McNealy to clean up the properties. One is located at 2nd and Central and the other is on 2nd Street. McNealy will clear debris, board up windows, and secure the properties.  The total cost to clean up the properties amounts to $2,645. The city will pay McNealy and liens will be placed on the properties.
The clean up is in conjunction with the recent code enforcement letters that were sent to property owners in Humboldt.
On a related note, the council approved a motion to have the Southeast Nebraska Development District submit an application for an Owner-Occupied Rehab Grant with Demolition.
In other action Tuesday, the Humboldt City Council approved a request for a one-day liquor license for the Humboldt Community Foundation to hold a wine tasting event at the Library on May 24.
And in another sign that warmer temperatures are just around the corner, Humboldt is advertising for a swimming pool manager and assistant manager for the summer. The city council is expected to set pool fees and salaries at its next meeting.
