The Peru State College Cross Country team participated in the Woody Greeno Nebraska Invitational meet Saturday in Lincoln. The Bobcats finished 29th of 32 teams in the meet, which included 289 runners from all levels of competition – NCAA, NAIA, and Junior College.
The Air Force Academy won the meet with 47 points and the University of South Dakota finished second, with Kansas State, Colorado School of Mines, and the University of Nebraska rounding out the top five teams.
Laura Galvan of Kansas State won the women’s 6-kilometer race.
Peru State senior Sarah Williams finished 33rd, in a time of 23:06.4. That’s 30-seconds better than her previous 6-K race and placed her 3rd among NAIA runners.
Also finishing for Peru State were Danielle Prchal in 27:21.2; Kristen Penny in a time of 28:15.2; Kesha Beethe in 28:30.8; and Danielle Aldrich with a time of 31:50.8.
Prchal’s time was 55-seconds better than what she ran the previous week in the Northwest Missouri Invite. Penny and Beethe also bettered their times, with Penny cutting 37-seconds off her 6-K time and Beethe running two seconds better.
Peru State competes Saturday at the Dean White Invitational at Doane College in Crete.
