The Peru State College men’s basketball team won its first Heart of America Athletic Conference game of the season Saturday. The Bobcats trailed Culver-Stockton College 46-29 at halftime, before outscoring the Wildcats by 22 points over the final 20 minutes to capture a 73-68 victory.
Derrick Williams led Peru State with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Eric Donald also scored in double figures for the Bobcats with 12 points.
With the win, Peru State improves to 2-22 overall, and 1-11 in conference play.
While the Peru State men’s basketball team overcame a halftime deficit, the women’s basketball team lost a 12-point halftime lead and fell to Culver-Stockton, 63-58 Saturday afternoon.
Katie Potter led the Bobcats with 18 points, and Natasha Moss added 12 points.
The Lady Bobcats record falls to 2-22 overall and 2-10 in the HAAC.
The Bobcat men and women travel to Baldwin City, Kansas to take on Baker University Thursday night.
