More discussion on the City Auditorium for the Humboldt City Council Tuesday evening.
The council approved changes to the contract with the Southeast Nebraska Development District to reflect changes in the grant the city received to replace windows at the Auditorium.
The Nebraska Energy Office substantially increased the amount of the award to Humboldt, from $17,440 to $74,347. The increased grant amount will allow the city to replace all the windows at the Auditorium, rather than 18 windows that had been planned with the original grant.
Five percent of the grant total – a little more than $3,700 – goes to SENDD for administration of the grant proceeds.
In a related move, the Humboldt City Council amended the City’s budget to include the additional grant money received and disbursed to pay for the Auditorium windows.
The City of Humboldt received three bids to repair the Auditorium roof. Bids were received from Midwest Custom Coating of Nebraska City in the amount of $38,463; McNealy Construction of Humboldt in the amount of $35,780, which included approximately $2,600 for gutters; and a bid from Nanninga Construction for $16,985, for a rubber roof.
The council took the bids under advisement.
In other business, the council heard presentations about two Eagle Scout projects that will make improvements to the Lake Park. Jacob Phelps plans to replace planks on the bridge at the Lake Park, and Scott Hamman’s project is to repair and repaint the sign leading to the Lake Park.
