Labor Day Weekend Activities Planned at Indian Cave State Park

(KLZA)-- Many activities are planned for the Labor Day weekend at Indian Cave State Park. There will be guided horse trail rides and living history demonstrations. You will be able to see demonstrators dipping candles and making Granny’s lye soap in the village of St. Deroin. A broom maker will be in the old general store making corn brooms. There will also be a blacksmith showing the art of blacksmithing.

The museum is open all weekend and there you will be able to see displays of the park history. Park souvenirs and make-n-take crafts are available here. A scavenger hunt can be enjoyed by the young and young at heart.

Friday evening movie at the outdoor amphitheater will be “Tracking Wildlife” and Sunday evening the movie will be “All-American Animals”.

The “Pioneer Longrifle’s Gun Club” will hold their rendezvous on Saturday and Sunday from 9am-5pm and on Monday from 9am-1pm. Black powder demonstrations will go on throughout the day.

At noon on Saturday the park will offer a fish fry. You will be able to enjoy musical entertainment during your meal. The finale for Saturday night will be an aerial fireworks display starting at 9 pm.
