(KLZA) Brad Stake was elected Chairman of the Pawnee County Commissioners when the Board met Tuesday. Jan Lang was elected Vice-Chairman.
April McHenry with the Extension Board met with Commissioners to explain that Jessica Jones from Johnson County will serve as interim – Extension Educator until a new one is appointed by UNL. The Extension Office will only be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday while Juanita Sharpe is on maternity leave.
Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner presented the rock report and a new map for rock roads was discussed. A bridge by Table Rock was discussed along with an ad prepared for removal of the bridge. Projects for the 1 & 6 Year Plan were also discussed. Grading and rocking policies were also reviewed.
Two companies visited with Commissioners regarding a phone system for the Pawnee County Courthouse. Chris Parry with In Path of Omaha said installation of the system would be approximately $10,000 and there would be an annual fee of 300 – 400 dollars.
Brandon Schmidt with time Warner said there would be an installation fee of $99.95 per location and that nationwide long distance, voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and call forwarding would be free.

Workplace safety Committee- Highway Supt, County Commissioners, Courthouse Custodian; Region V Services- Jan Lang; Region V Systems- Jan Lang; Building & Grounds- County Commissioners and Highway Supt; Southeast Nebraska Community Action – Dennis Schaardt; Southeast Nebraska Development District – Brad Stake; Southeast District Health Board – Jan Lang and Harvey Schneider; Pawnee City Development Association Board – Dennis Schaardt, Harvey Schneider, Sharon Schilling, Alan Richards and alternate George Lambert; RC&D Board – Alan Richard and alternate, Ron Puhalla; Surveyor – Jorgensen Surveying; and Highway Supt – Chris Rauner.
Schaardt moved to combine the Weed Supt and the Zoning Manager positions with Larry Bradbury filling both positions. The Emergency Manager position will be discussed at the next meeting.
