(KTNC)--Authorities are investigating a rash of burglaries in the Table Rock area.
According to the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, thieves have struck five locations since Thanksgiving, and an attempted theft was made at a sixth location.
Sheriff Jayme Reed says approximately $10,000 worth of equipment has been stolen in the five burglaries. Items stolen include tools, air compressors, toolboxes, chain saws, and weed-eaters.
Reed says one homeowner discovered someone taking gas out of a tractor. That person has not been caught.
To date, Reed says the thefts have been confined to the Table Rock area, at buildings in the country without someone living nearby.
Sheriff Reed tells the Pawnee Republican that farmers are upset that their equipment is being stolen. She says she believes it’s a small group of people responsible for the thefts and they have three to five suspects at this time.
Authorities say people should watch for suspicious vehicles and try to get license plate numbers.
