The Pawnee County Planning Commission is scheduled to meet Friday at 9 a-m at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
One of the agenda items is to hold a public hearing on a request from the Pawnee City, City Council to create a wellhead protection area around the city water wells located approximately eight miles northwest of Pawnee City.
A number of ag producers around that area have expressed concerns over how creation of a wellhead protection area would affect them. In addition there are some questions of how a possible mining project in the area of the wells could affect the Pawnee City water wells.
The meeting begins at 9 a-m at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
If the Pawnee County Planning Commission were to approve the request to create a wellhead protection area, it would then go to the Pawnee County Commissioners.
