Horton Artist Finishes Veterans Memorial Mural
Its no longer a dream, it's reality for local artist Luke Lott! After 2 years of hard work , and determination ,Lott's vision for a Veterans Memorial Mural has finally become a reality in the heart of Horton, Kansas.
The new mural, located next to The Veterans Park along Central Avenue, is a stunning tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country. This project would not have been possible without the support of the Hiawatha Masonic Lodge, who generously donated $500 to the City of Horton for a mural project, as well as Rick Clement and Jacob Lott for their donations. These contributions were instrumental in bringing Lott's vision to life.
"I am thrilled to see this project come full circle" said Luke Lott. "Its finished. Been a heck of a project and by far the largest I've ever done. They say that gifts aren't given to you, for you. They are given to you to share with everyone else. Thank you everyone for all the support, compliments , and stopping by to shout or visit while this was in the process."
The mural features a special interactive element, with three QR codes that allow viewers to scan and listen to hand-selected music while admiring the artwork. This unique feature adds an extra layer of depth and meaning to the mural, making it a truly immersive experience.
Lott's artwork is already a staple of the Horton community, with notable pieces including the barbed wire P.O.W. sculpture in the jail cell at the Veterans Park, the "Four Horsemen of the Lines" historical marker rock in front of Brown Atchison Electric, and murals inside Scoops and Smiles Ice Cream Shop, just to name a few.
This mural is a beautiful tribute to our veterans and a wonderful addition to our community. The Veterans Memorial Mural is now open for viewing, and we invite the community to come and experience this incredible piece of art.
