Karen Sue Reiss, 67, of Weston, MO., formerly of Atchison KS died Monday, April 28, 2014 at her home in Weston, MO.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Abbot Barnabas Senecal. O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison.  A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 with visitation to follow until 8:00 pm at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com

Karen was born on July 30, 1946 in Newport, VA, the daughter of Raymond L. and Barbara (Hill) Merrill.  She graduated from Atchison High School in 1965.  Karen worked as a certified nurse’s assistant and Certified Medical Assistant and then as the activity director at Atchison Senior Village for over forty years before retiring in 2006.  She was a member of the St. Benedicts Church, and the VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and especially her children and grandchildren.

She was married to Jesse Reiss on July 12th, 1985 in Weston; MO. Mr. Reiss survives of the home.  Additional survivors include two sons, Alan (Veronica )  Fultz, and Jeff  (Tish ) Fultz, of Atchison, KS., a daughter, April (Daryl)  Watowa, Atchison, KS., three brothers, Larry Merrill, Huron, KS, Terry Larkin, Atchison,  and Tim Larkin, St. Joseph, MO, a sister, Robyn Kelley, Atchison, KS. and four grandchildren, Erin Chapman, Darian Fultz, Blake Fultz, and Morgan Watowa. , brother-in-law, Larry Zabel, Atchison, KS. Her father Raymond L. Merrill, her parents, Ray and Barbara Larkin, a brother Dennis Merrill, and sisters, Bonnie Zabel, and Mary Ann Harris, a grandson, Nolan and granddaughter Logan preceded her in death.
