Joyce Wilma (Davison) Moerer, 87, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on April 15,1938, in rural Stella, Nebraska, to Floyd and Freda (Hall) Davison. She attended country school and graduated from Stella High School with the class of 1956. Following high school, she took classes at Peru State College. On March 3,1957, Joyce was united in marriage to Vanes Moerer at the E. U. B. church in Howe, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children: Carol, Paula, Neal, and Mark.
The couple lived in Lawton, Oklahoma, while Vanes served at Fort Sill. After his military service was complete, Vanes and Joyce moved to Humboldt in the fall of 1959. Joyce was a dedicated and loving mother. She faithfully served Sunday dinner to her family for years, giving them many special memories. She was a devoted member of the Faith Lutheran Church where she played organ, taught children in the Midweek ministry, and participated in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Joyce thoroughly enjoyed giving piano lessons to generations of budding musicians through the decades. She and Vanes loved to travel and were able to visit 49 states and several countries before his death in 2017. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage. Joyce moved to Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt in 2022 and passed away there on October 20, 2025, having reached the age of 87 years, six months, and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws John and Marie Moerer, sister Leone Kahle, brothers-in-law Alvin Kahle and Wayne Moerer, sister-in-law Willy Moerer, daughter Paula Moerer, infant son Neal Moerer, and great-granddaughter Ren Avery.
Joyce is survived by her children: daughter Carol Herr and husband Chad of rural Humboldt, son Mark Moerer and wife Denise of rural Humboldt, grandchildren: Tessi Avery and husband Seth of rural Humboldt, Caleb Herr and wife Holly of rural Table Rock, Abbi Gyhra of Pawnee City, Cade Herr and wife Megan of rural Humboldt, Jonathan Moerer of Syracuse, Danielle Jackman, of Lincoln, and Shannon Moerer of Lincoln, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Marvin Davison and wife UnaRose of rural Auburn, sister Marilyn Urwin and husband Tom of Blair, brother-in-law Gary Moerer and wife Barbara of Lincoln, sisters-in-law: Janet Clark of Colorado, Joyce Obenschain and husband David of Virginia, many nephews, nieces, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Northridge Church, 625 Lincoln Street in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Chris Hanley officiating. Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family's choice with a later designation.
