Michael (Mike) Ray Long, a devoted craftsman and beloved family member, passed away at his home on August 20, 2025, at the age of 63.
He was born April 3, 1962, in Wichita, Kansas the son of Louie and Lucy Shannon Long. Michael developed a lifelong love for working with his hands. His passion for woodworking and remarkable skill as a craftsman left behind not only beautiful pieces but also lasting reminders of his creativity, patience, and dedication. Every project he completed reflected the care and precision that defined him.
Beyond his talents, Mike will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the way he poured his heart into everything he did. He shared his gifts with family, friends, and his community, creating both treasured works and cherished memories.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Long of the home. Children: Ray (Amy) Rutland, Norfolk, NE, Kimberly (Beau) Hasenohr, Hiawatha, KS, Carrie (Matthew) Thorne, Horton, KS. Sister Carol (Dave) Allen, Belle Plaine, KS, Niece Cherie Morisset, Toronto, KS, Nephew David Morisset, Wichita, KS. 12 grandchildren, and 6 great nieces.
A service to honor Michael's life will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Visitation at 10:00 am with the service to follow at 11:00 am. Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and celebrate his life, his legacy, and the many ways he touched those around him.
Mike's life was a testament to craftsmanship-both in his woodwork and in the way he built a life filled with love, meaning, and beauty. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
