"A Life of Selflessness and Devotion"
Today, we come together with full hearts to honor and celebrate the life of Gary Lee Moman — a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, public servant, and man of unwavering faith, integrity, and love.

Gary was born on April 8, 1949, in Horton, Kansas, to Jack and Edna (Kackler) Moman. From an early age, Gary embodied the steady values that would shape his life — hard work, loyalty, and service.

In 1967, Gary answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served with pride and courage during the Vietnam War, stationed in Karat, Thailand, until 1971 when he returned home with honor.

On August 27, 1974, Gary married the love of his life, Connie Sue (Smith) Moman. Their marriage, rooted in faith and built on over 50 years of love, was a true partnership. Together they raised two children, Corey (Christie) Moman and Mandy (Scott) Beagle, both of Everest, Kansas.

Gary's work ethic and heart for service guided his career. He began as a meat cutter at Gokel's and Pat's Thriftway, later serving in the Horton Reserve Police Department while earning his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University. His dedication led him to the VA Federal Police Department in Topeka, Kansas, where he served with compassion and commitment. He retired in 2007 as a lieutenant detective, closing a career defined by integrity, leadership, and meaningful impact on the community.

Beyond his professional life, Gary lived in faithful service to others. He was a deacon and longtime member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, a proud member of the Gideons, and a deeply committed veteran leader, serving for years as Commander and Chief and Quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

But it was in the role of Grandpa and Great-Grandpa that Gary found some of his greatest joy. Gary's love for his family was steady and fierce. He was their protector, encourager, and sometimes, their comedian.

He was immensely proud of his grandchildren: Taylor (Lyvia) Moman - Kansas City, KS, Jaycee (Sam) Gerety - Winchester, KS, Triston (Kayla) Lawrence - Horton, KS, Jackson Moman, Zachary Lee, Hadley Moman, and Abigail Lee - Everest, KS.

He was blessed to welcome and love three great-grandchildren: Dani, Cooper, and Kase Gerety
And at home, always close by his side, was his loyal dog WiFi — a trusted companion who brought Gary daily joy and quiet comfort.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Edna Moman, his brother Jack "Jackie" Moman, and his nephew Dougie Moman. We take comfort knowing they are now reunited.

Gary passed away on August 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that speaks volumes — not through grand gestures, but through a life lived full of joy and faith. He showed us what it means to love deeply, serve humbly, live with purpose, never forget where you come from, and always cherish time spent with the ones you love.

He gave his best to every role he held — as a veteran, a public servant, a church leader, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend.

We will miss him dearly. But we will carry him with us — in the stories and home videos we share, the lessons and expressions he taught, and the quiet strength we find in ourselves because of the life he lived. We love you, Poppy.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the mortuary. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will follow at the Horton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ or to the Gideon's and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
