Winnie was born on July 30, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas, to Velma (Doolittle) and Virgil Burgard. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953. On April 24, 1955, she began a lifelong journey with Robert "Bob" Hall at Highland Park United Methodist Church. They shared 66 cherished years of marriage until Bob's passing in 2021.
Together, Winnie and Bob built and cared for their farm operation, Averie Acres, which was affectionately named after their granddaughter. Winnie took pride in her active role in the daily rhythms of country life. Over the years, she also shared her talents working for Crosby Brothers department store, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Topeka, Ks., Farm Bureau Insurance in Lancaster, Ks, the Atchison County Clerk's Office, and Snow Creek Ski Resort in Iatan, Missouri—where she was honored as Employee of the Year in 2002.
Winnie's generous spirit extended into her community involvement. She was a member of the Farmington Christian Church, the Farmington Unit, and the Areme Chapter of the Eastern Star in Effingham. She also served as secretary on the Atchison County Extension Board. A lifelong learner, she completed the four-year Menninger Bible Study Class and was fondly recognized as the FHA Chapter Mom by the ACCHS Class of 1974.
Winnie had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and found joy in planting and growing wildflowers. She was also a gifted seamstress, especially known for her handcrafted mohair teddy bears—each lovingly stitched with a personalized heart inside.
She is survived by her daughter, Cyreesa (Mark) Windsor of Atchison; her granddaughter, Averie (John) Chapman, great-grandchildren, Miller and Reese Chapman, all of Fairway, Kansas. Winnie's memory will also be treasured by her sister-in-law, Helen Hall of DeKalb, Missouri and niece Kathy Hall of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as great-nephew Zachary (Haylie) Emmendorfer of St. Joseph, Missouri.
