Walter E. ‘Walt’ Scott

Walter E. 'Walt' Scott passed peacefully on June 12th, 2025, at Wathena Care Center. He was 82.
Walt was born to Lucille Foster Scott and Willard Scott, January 22, 1943, at Falls City, Nebraska. Walter's father Willard passed away when he was a young boy and was raised by his step-father Walter Fischer.
Walter married Mary Edie of White Cloud in 1964. He served in the Army from 1966 until 1969 during the Vietnam War, discharged at rank of Spc 5. He returned to the area to raise his family and worked on hog farms in the area, retiring in 2023 from J6 Farms.
He is survived by his wife Mary of 60 years, their first child Jim was born and four years later Christine (Shan) Torkelson. Walt was also proud grandpa of Wyatt Torkelson, Logan Torkelson, and David Keo Scott. Also surviving are his brother Phil Fischer (Debbie) and a sister Nancy Lippold (Steve); several nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lee and sister Linda Rose.
He enjoyed fishing and being out-of-doors. Walt never met a stranger. He enjoyed riding his bike in town, and attending tractor pulling events.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 12 noon Sunday where the family will visit with friends from 6 until 8 that evening.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home by 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 16, to go in procession to Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud, for graveside services at 10:30. Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate. Casual attire is requested. Lunch will follow at the American Legion Building in White Cloud.
Military honors will be a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.
