Suanne was involved in life on the farm that her great grandfather bought when he came from Norway. From a young age, she participated in 4-H, especially with her Holstein cattle, receiving many ribbons and even went to Nationals! She attended Union Dale Country School and graduated from Everest High School. After graduation, Suanne attended & graduated from Clarks Business School in Topeka and then worked as a personal secretary. She was married and divorced from Robert Davy and Odos Tucker. Suanne returned to school and received her certificate as a Dietary Manager. She was always excellent in the kitchen making delicious food. She worked as a Dietary Manager for 15 years at the Horton Community Hospital, which she loved. Suanne was a member of the Kansas Dietary Association where she held the State office of Hospitality. She also worked part time for the lunch program at the Horton High School-USD 430. In 2000, her hairdresser and longtime friend introduced her to Jim Hoffman, who was an answer to her many prayers. They were married on September 15, 2001. She was a talented seamstress with many young women wearing the prom & wedding dresses she had altered as well as all the alterations she did for so many in the community, just as her mother had done in years past. She also loved quilting with her special friends, making many quilts that she shared with family & friends.
Suanne was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Everest, KS. She was on the church council and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the local PEO Chapter and was known for those quilts she made which were auctioned at halftime of Horton Chargers basketball games. Playing cards monthly with her women’s group was a highlight for Suanne. A favorite pastime other than playing Mexican Train with her siblings was to go to the Golden Eagle and Sac & Fox Casinos. She convinced us all she won most of the time. It gave her and Jim great enjoyment together.
These last four years were a challenge for her when she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, and heart disease. She never complained and always tried to help other patients around her. Her favorite quote was "everything will be okay!" Our thanks and gratitude go out to all the Doctors and caregivers that helped her along the way. You made a great difference for her as she went through this trial, and she was truly thankful for each of you.
Suanne never met a stranger and always talked about her Lord...we pray & know she is at peace in His Loving Arms.
