James E. Oldridge

James E. Oldridge, 72, of rural Hiawatha, died peacefully Sunday morning, February 9, 2025, at Two Timbers in Highland.

James was born at Sabetha, May 17, 1952, to Cleon and Marjorie (Pittman) Oldridge. He grew up and went to school in the Powhattan area, graduating from Powhattan High School. He went on to the North Central Kansas Technical College graduating in 1972.

He married Elaine Williams. They have two children: Chad (Stormi) Oldridge and Tarasa (John) Gardner; grandchildren Emerson Gardner, Lexi Gardner, Conor Oldridge, and Keith Holder. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Leola Williams, brother-in-law Tom (Connie) Williams, sister-in-law Joyce Oldridge; nephews: David (Candi) Oldridge, Mike Williams, Corey (Sara) Zellers, nieces: Sherri Nelson, Kristi (Danny) Rodriguez, Kylie Zellers; great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ken Oldridge; father-in-law Sam Williams.

James worked for the Ag Partners Cooperative for 32 years before retiring. He then worked for Fairview Mills for 11 years before retiring again. Jim was a quiet, kind hearted man. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He loved to take them fishing.

A celebration of Jim’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Community of Christ at Fanning where Jim was a longtime member.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Church Memorial Fund sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.

Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home Thursday and until 4:30 Friday.
