Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison

Robert Wood Winzer, 91, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away Wednesday January 29, 2025, at Atchison Senior Village.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Troy, Kansas. A visitation will be held the afternoon prior on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to NEK Home Health and Hospice or Forest of Friendship and can be sent in care of Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Robert was born on May 28, 1933, at the family home in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Everett and Ruth (Wood) Winzer. After graduating from Atchison High School, 1951, Robert served in the United States Army with the Heavy Mortar Co. 17th infantry Regiment APO 7 during the Korean War from June 17, 1953, to April 26, 1955. Robert Received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After retiring from the Army, Robert met Ollie Barker and they were married January 12, 1957, at the Presbyterian Church. Robert and Ollie recently celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Robert dedicated his life to farming. He shared his love of the land with his brothers, Everett and Aaron, as they operated the Winzer Brothers family farm. He took great pleasure in witnessing the growth of his family and enjoyed sharing his agricultural and mechanical knowledge with the younger generations. Robert also enjoyed hunting, fishing with the family and just being outdoors. He had an affection for trees and planted a large variety around the homestead.

Robert is survived by his wife Ollie, of the home; daughters Debbie (Dan) Orr, Topeka, KS, Karen (Bill) Stattelman, , Topeka, KS, and Deanna (Tim) Murphy, Firestone, CO; grandsons Dillon (Amanda) Orr, Dalton (Kelly) Orr, Alex (Catlin) Stattelman, Sean Stattelman, Jeremiah (Mary Kate) Tyler and Joshua Tyler; step-grandsons Dan (Danielle) Orr and Joseph Yellowhorse-Murphy, and four great-grandchildren. Robert is preceded by both of his parents, daughter Tamara Winzer, brothers Everett and Aaron Winzer, and sisters Nora Jean Wohlgemuth, and Reona Johnson.
