David L. Sowers, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025.

He was born August 6, 1943 in Atchison, Kansas to James Bradley Sowers, Jr. and Anna Rachel (VanHorn) Sowers. He was a graduate of Atchison High School and then attended Pillsbury Baptist College in Minnesota.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1969, first at West Point as a driver for high-ranking officers and dignitaries, then served a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was a maintenance electrician at Bradken for many years.

David was formerly a member of Carol Baptist Church in Atchison, where he was a deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher, bus driver and did maintenance. He then was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church in St. Joseph.

David enjoyed anything with wings. In his younger years he loved to fly his own small-engine airplane, and he liked to fly RC planes and kites as well.
