Amelia Ann Shippy, 51, of Sabetha, Kansas and formerly of Horton, Kansas, passed away on January 10, 2025.
Born on January 28, 1973, Amy was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. Despite the limits of living with cerebral palsy, she brought joy and laughter to all those who knew her. She faced every challenge with a warrior heart and an unwavering spirit.
Amy’s radiant smile and kind heart touched the lives of many. She had a unique ability to bring warmth and happiness to those around her, and her presence was a constant reminder of the beauty of resilience and love. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, sense of humor, and shenanigans.
Amy is survived by her loving parents, Ken and Connie Shippy of Horton and her devoted sisters, Stacy (Craig) Scmidt of Wichita, Kansas; and Mindy (Hector) Montemayor of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She will also be missed by her nephews, Bryson Tilley of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and Kenny Joe Schmidt of Wichita, Kansas, and her nieces, Madison Tilley of Fargo, North Dakota and Kristine Schmidt of Wichita, Kansas, who will continue to honor her legacy by living with the same kindness and determination that she exemplified every day. Her life, though short, was filled with love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Amy is preceded in death by her sister, Laura Dawn Shippy; grandparents, Pete and Lillian Shippy and Jack and Ann Martin.
The family will host a Celebration of Life memorial on January 26th at the First Christian Church in Horton. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lakeside Terrace in Sabetha, Kansas in Amy’s memory, to support those living with special needs and the amazing caretakers that share their compassion and love with them. A special thank you to Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice for their outstanding care and understanding.
