Roberta Ann (Bobbi) McLachlan Dalinghaus, 85, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the Life Care Center in Seneca.
Bobbi was born on March 11, 1939, in Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Alexander Robert (A.R.) and Florence Brengarth McLachlan. She grew up in Columbia, Missouri, until the second grade, when her family moved to Salisbury, Missouri. She attended St. Joseph Grade School and High School in Salisbury, graduating in 1957. Bobbie then attended Mount St. Scholastica from 1957 to 1959 before going on to Florence Cook School of Nursing and the Kansas University Medical Center, where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1960.
In 1960, Bobbi began working at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, where she worked until 1994. She later worked for 11 years at the Good Shepherd Village Nursing Home in Summerfield, Kansas, before retiring.
Bobbi had a passion for travel, playing cards, dancing, and enjoying time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and her warmth and caring spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dalinghaus, on May 4, 2022; her parents, Florence and Alexander McLachlan; and her sister, Theresa Rettele, who passed away on February 22, 2011.
On September 16, 1961, Bobbi married Lillis Leon “Bill” Dalinghaus. To this union were born daughters Deborah (Larry) Husa of Liberty, Nebraska, and Diane Dalinghaus of Overland Park, Kansas, as well as sons Daniel (Janice) Dalinghaus of Sabetha, Douglas (Tiffany) Dalinghaus of Seneca, and Daryl Dalinghaus of Overland Park, Kansas. Bobbie was also a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Milas of Kirksville, Missouri, her brother William McLachlan of Baileyville, Kansas, and two brothers, David McLachlan of St. Louis, Missouri and Ron McLachlan of St, Louis, Missouri and a brother-in-law Bill Rettele.
A rosary will be prayed on Thursday, January 16, at 2 and 7:00 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, January 17, at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, with burial following in the Sacred Heart church cemetery in Baileyville.
