Valerie Lawrence Hayslett 65, of Atchison Kansas passed away on Thursday December 5, 2024, at the Atchison hospital after a 6-year battle with cancer.

Valerie was born May 26,1959 in Springfield Missouri to Johnnie and Ruth  Lawrence. In the early 1980’s she married Michael Hayslett. They later divorced but remained friends. Valerie was a homemaker for most of her life but also worked for Golden Eagle Casino, Wilde tool and other businesses. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Her favorite place to be was at her home which she named Hippie Hill.

Valerie was survived by her children Shane Lawrence, Lansing Ks, Shawn Lawrence, Holden Mo, Shandi Moman, Atchison Ks, John (Bridgett) Moman III, Kansas City Mo, and Constance (Michael Fetty) Moman, Hiawatha Ks. Siblings Brenda (Robert) Birchfield, Eureka Springs Ark, Larry (Gayle) Lawrence, Mt. Vernon Mo, Kathy Madere, Mt. Vernon Mo, Chuck (Vanessa) Lawrence, Cleo Springs Ok, Peggy Lawrence, Horton Ks, Andy Lawrence, Atchison Ks, Mike Lawrence, Atchison Ks, Joe Lawrence, Atchison Ks, 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and 2 sisters Patricia Johansen and Jamie Fortune.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas with a dinner to follow at the Muscotah Community Building.
