Michael Allen McCartney, 67 of Willis, Kansas, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at his home in Willis, Kansas. He had fought long and hard, fighting many health battles, though even in his weakest moments his family was always his biggest concerns.
He was born on September 28, 1957 in San Francisco, California the son of Robert and Joyce Van Eno McCartney. He received his electrical training license from Glasgow, Montana. Mike always had one of the hardest work ethics, and the people he worked with became more like family. Mike worked at Tysons as a utilities operator before retiring due to cancer. On June 7, 1976 he married Roberta Jean Primm in Falls City, Nebraska.
Mike was a devoted husband , loving father and Papa. Mike could often be found riding his Honda GoldWing, playing pool, going to casino with siblings, or just watching TV with Roberta prior to becoming to ill.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta McCartney of the home, son, Michael McCartney (Erica) of Topeka, Kansas, two daughters, Sunshine McCartney of Hiawatha, Kansas and Jessie McCartney (Jim) of Falls City, Nebraska, 2 Furbabies Zion and Dixie of the home, brother, Jim McCartney (Sue) of Falls City, Nebraska, four sisters, Tammie Vice (Kevin) of Highlandville, Missouri, Angie Wendtlandt (Henry) of Falls City, Nebraska and Cindy Kordes (Keith) Camden Point, Missouri Linda Colsrud of Renton, Washington, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with 1 on the way, Michael the 4th.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rebel McCartney, 2 great grandsons Jhett and Jory, two brothers, Rusty McCartney and Robert McCartney.
Family will greet friends Wednesday evening, December 11th, from 5 to 6:30 p.m , funeral services will be December 12th at 1:30 p.m. all at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be in Willis, Kansas. A dinner will follow the burial at the First Christian Church in Horton, Kansas.
