Marjorie Maxine LaNier

Marjorie Maxine LaNier, 91, of Wetmore, KS, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, KS. She was born in Wetmore, KS, the daughter of Clarence Leo John and Helena Matilda (Brandt) Thieme on January 4, 1933.

Marjorie graduated from Wetmore High School in 1951. After high school, she worked at the Brown County Infirmary for over 17 years. When the infirmary closed, she went and worked as a CMA at Oak Ridge Acres in Hiawatha, retiring after 21 years of service.
Marjorie was a former member of the Netawaka Immanuel Lutheran Church and was attending Wetmore Baptist Church.

On June 10, 1951, Marjorie was united in marriage to Clifford Elroy LaNier in Wetmore, KS (at the same house she was born in and later made it their home after her parents passed). They shared over 42 years of marriage before Clifford’s passing on November 22, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Helena Theime; son, Larry LaNier and a brother, Marvin Thieme.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon DeVader (Dan) of Holton, KS; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends Friday, November 29, 2024 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family graveside will be at the Wetmore Cemetery. Marjorie will lie-in-state Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Friday morning until visitation time. Memorials may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
