Merlyn Francis Frenzel
Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn
Auburn , NE
Merlyn Francis Frenzel, son of Walter Edward Frenzel and Gertrude Willa (Patton) Frenzel was born January 16, 1930 at the family home located near Howe, Nebraska. He was one of two children born to this union.
Merlyn grew up on the family farm and graduated from Auburn High School in 1948. He started farming full time straight out of high school. Merlyn married Nancy Eileen Gerdes on August 5, 1962 at St. Paul’s (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church in rural Auburn, Nebraska. To this marriage three sons were born: Kevin, Craig and Jeff. He was a member of St. Paul’s (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church. Merlyn retired from farming in 2003. He enjoyed traveling with Nancy and they took many trips together before she passed in October of 2006. Their travels included locations such as Ireland, Germany, Australia and Hawaii. They also loved to take driving trips, sometimes for weeks, wandering through most of the lower 48 and even Alaska. Merlyn loved a good antique tractor show and had a fascination with caves (an interest not shared by all of his teenage sons).
Merlyn moved to Auburn in 2010. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family, especially the grandkids. The grandkids would always bring a smile to his face. Merlyn spent much of his time after moving to Auburn with dear friend Darlene Olson. Merlyn moved into Good Samaritan Nursing Home in early 2023.
Those left to celebrate his life are: Kevin Frenzel and wife Callen of Lincoln, NE; Craig Frenzel and wife Carlene of Auburn, NE; Jeffery Frenzel and wife Wendy of Kiowa, CO; grandchildren Derek Frenzel, Michaela Frenzel, Kailey (Frenzel) Chatelain and husband Max, Kenda (Frenzel) Stogdill and husband Dale, Jared Frenzel, Heather (Bright) Whitten and husband Tom; Katharina Frenzel and fiancée Asher Suski; great grandchildren Carter and Ethan Whitten, Norah and Lennon Chatelain and Bennett Stogdill.
And to quote Merlyn “I’m glad you got to see me!”
