Walter Carl Arnold, age 87 of Nebraska City, passed away peacefully with family by his side March 19, 2024 at CHI St. Mary- Hospital in Nebraska City. Walt was born January 23, 1937 in Barada, the son of Henry William and Anna Marie (Roth) Arnold. He graduated from Falls City High School then went to work at Fleskoski- Market as a meat cutter. Walt was a supply sergeant in the Nebraska National Guard from 1960 to 1966. He moved to Nebraska City and started at Hinky Dinky where he met and married his wife of 57 years Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Thomas September 4, 1966 in Nebraska City. He also ran Walt- Lawn Care for many years. He served as a member of the Nebraska City Rescue Squad, loved bowling, was secretary of the Nebraska City Bowling Association and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Walt is survived by his wife, Liz of Nebraska City; son, Dave (Amy) Arnold of Excelsior Springs, MO; daughter, Anne (Barry) Lockard of Eagle, NE; grandchildren, Trevor and Trent Lockard, Isaac Gavin and Carlee Arnold; brothers, Leon (Bev) Arnold of Council Bluffs, IA and Marvin Arnold of Falls City, NE; sisters, Helen Arnold and Carolyn Arnold both of Falls City, NE; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Gary; and sister, Mary.

Funeral services 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial to follow in Wyuka Cemetery. Lunch will be served at Eagles Club in Nebraska City following the burial site.

Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Memorials are suggested to Nebraska City Fire EMS Division or the family- choice.
