Anthony Douglas Lentz, 58, of Hiawatha, died March 7, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home. He previously had been a resident of Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Doug was born February 22, 1966, at St. Joseph, Missouri, one of eight children born to Frank Benjamin and Beverly Mildred Alfrey Lentz and was a lifelong northeast Kansas resident. He grew up near Iowa Point in Doniphan County where he attended Highland Schools prior to graduating from Highland High School. Doug always was working: after high school he worked in the maintenance department at Maple Heights Nursing Home prior to starting work at Hiawatha Walmart. Anything that needed to be done, he would do it! He worked at Walmart for 19 years before his health wouldn’t allow him to continue.

Whenever you seen Doug, he always had a story….usually about fishing. He grew up fishing the Missouri and Wolf Rivers in Doniphan County. He also enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Bennie, Jimmy, Timmy, and Sharon Twombly.

Survivors include the three sisters: Virginia, Ellie, and Susan (Richard), sisters in laws: Rosemary and Kathleen; with many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will meet with friends starting at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Eternal Hope Worship Center in Hiawatha, to go in procession to Highland Cemetery for graveside services and burial at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate.
