Sue Ann Jackman

Sue Ann (Wertenberger) Jackman, 80, of Sabetha, Kansas went into the arms of the Lord, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Sabetha Community Hospital in Sabetha.

Sue Ann was born in Clay Center, Kansas, on March 18, 1943, the daughter of Kirt Phillip Wertenberger and Florence May “Flossie” (Williams) Wertenberger. She was the oldest of four children. Sue Ann graduated from Sabetha High School in May 1960. She married the love of her life, Raymond Lee Jackman, on June 1, 1961. Raymond and Sue Ann were married for 42 years until his death in 2003.

Sue Ann was a clerk for the BMB Company in Holton, Kansas for 15 years. Then, she worked for Jackson Heights USD 335 for 15 years as the board office accountant. After Raymond became ill and required dialysis, they moved from Wetmore to Sabetha to shorten their travel time to the dialysis center. When they moved to Sabetha, Sue Ann worked for Sabetha USD 441 (now known as Prairie Hills USD 113) at Sabetha High School as the secretary and bookkeeper. She worked at SHS for several years until her retirement in 2011.

Sue Ann loved her family and friends. She loved to play card games, especially Bunco with her favorite ladies. Sue Ann was a huge supporter and dedicated fan of the Sabetha Bluejays, and no matter what the sport was, she would be in the stands cheering on her beloved Bluejays if her health allowed. She was also an active member of the Twin Oaks Church in Sabetha.

Sue Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on October 26, 2003; her brother, Phil Wertenberger on May 23, 2023; her sister, Vonda Lee Wertenberger on December 13, 1963; and many other loved ones.

Sue Ann is survived by her two sons, Mark A. (Kim) Jackman and Steven R. (Liz Lewis) Jackman both of Sabetha; her brother, Rixey N. (Brenda) Wertenberger of Sabetha; her brothers-in-law, Gary Jackman of Topeka, Kansas, and Russ Stauffer of Sabetha; her sisters-in-law, Beth Amon of Netawaka, Kansas and Linda Wertenberger of Sabetha; her eight grandchildren; and her 21 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at the NorthRidge Church. The interment will be made in the Circleville Cemetery on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Circleville, Kansas.
