Warren Everett DuPont, Jr, 72, of Seneca died on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Warren was born on February 7, 1952 at the Whidden Hospital in Stoneham, Massachusetts to Warren E. DuPont Sr and Gladys Lorraine Delarue DuPont. He grew up in the Stoneham, Massachusetts community and graduated from Stotonian High School in Stoughton, Massachusetts in 1970. He attended Southeast Regional Technical Institute, south Easton, Massachusetts and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Machine Design Technology.

In 1972 he enlisted twice in the United States Army and then reenlisted a second time, serving 16 years and 7 months retiring with a rank of SPC E7. During his tour he served three years, 11 months and 18 days overseas. Warren duties while he was in the Army was an engineer. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 Bronze Star) among other medals. On June 1, 1975 in Colorado Springs, Colorado he married Sharon Kay Bigelow. To his union, one daughter was born, Paula Ann. The couple divorced in 1996; but, remained friends and jointly supported their daughter.

After leaving the service Warren worked security in Manhattan before being hired by the Seneca City Police Department on April 2, 1999. To protect and serve was the very fiber of Warren and he embraced the community of Seneca, serving the police department as a Law Enforcement Officer for 19 years, retiring on April 28, 2018.
Warren loved history and sharing that knowledge with others; he loved dogs, especially Black Labrador Retrievers. He was a member of the NRA and considered himself an avid gun collector; teaching his daughter how to be a proficient shooter. He was a true Trekkie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, Susan, and his ex-wife, Sharon Kay DuPont on August 27, 2021.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Ann DuPont of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and his companion of 15 years, Astrid Deunick of Seneca.

Warren will lie in state all day on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Lauer Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 6th at the Seneca City Cemetery, with full military honors.
