Lyle Broxterman

Lyle Harold Broxterman, 71, of Fairview, Kansas passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by his family.

Lyle was born to Leonard "Bud" and Evelyn "Betty" (Mitchell) Broxterman on August 25, 1952, in Axtell, Kansas. Lyle was one of eight children born to this union.

Lyle graduated from B&B High School in Baileyville, Kansas in 1970. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force serving from 1971 to 1975. Later, Lyle joined the Kansas National Guard and retired from the Guard in 2012. Lyle was well-known for his hard work ethic. He worked for Wenger Manufacturing in Sabetha for 25 years while also working on the family farm. Lyle enjoyed gardening and riding his horses.

Lyle married Rosie Buttner. They later divorced. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his three sons, Kerry, Jesse, Randy and his daughter, Michelle. On June 16, 2001, Lyle was united in marriage to Vikki Barrett. Family and finding ways to bring his family together were important to Lyle. Lyle was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Nancy Broxterman; and his brother-in-law, Alan Stallbaumer.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Vikki of Fairview; his three sons, Kerry (Susan) Broxterman, Jesse (Jodi) Broxterman, and Randy Broxterman; his daughter, Michelle Moreno; his eight grandchildren, Kalli (Alex) Edelman, Anthony Moreno, Brynna Broxterman, Harlie Broxterman, Michael Moreno, Addie Broxterman, Mallie Broxterman, and Jaren Broxterman; his two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Haidyn Edelman; and his seven siblings, Sandy Stallbaumer, Leon Broxterman, Marilyn (Jim) Graf, Gary (Vicki) Broxterman, Vickie Appelhans, Tammy (Mark) Skoch, and Stan (Susan) Broxterman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha, Kansas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Prior to the visitation, a rosary will be prayed starting at 5:15 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be made in the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha with military honors.
